In our latest Community profile we learned more about the work of young photographer capturing impromptu shoots with celebrities and local Toronto talents like Roy Woods, Trey and Jermaine Richards, Lil yachty and more.
Give us a short introduction of yourself and what you do...
My name is Sameer Rahim, I’m 16 years old from Toronto, and I capture moments through photographs.
What would you say were your first introductions to photography?
I got into photography around 2016, when I was in grade 6. I used to watch a lot of Casey Neistat’s videos on YouTube. His whole setup stood out and inspired me.

I wanted to know who some of your Inspirations have been as it relates to the aesthetic of your work?
I try to have an aesthetic of my own that no other photographer has. Although when taking pictures, photographers like Aaron Wniya, Cedar Stone, and Reginal Devy influence me.
Tell us about how you find opportunities to shoot and develop your portfolio of work as a full-time High School student.
I try to find a balance. During the weekdays, I am doing my schoolwork, and when the weekend comes around, I’m usually in Yorkville or Riverdale (Toronto) taking pictures. Essentially, it is all about time management.

Looking ahead to the future, Where do you see yourself in 5 years ( Will you still be doing photography? perhaps in another career path?)
Despite photography, I am interested in business and hope to pursue a career in the business field. However, photography is something that I will always do, no matter what. I’m hoping to become the next RaysCorruptedMind lol.
Lastly, What's some advice you'd give to another young photographer?
Umm don’t give up, I took a 2 year break from taking photos due to finding models/clients being stressful but as of right now, that has entirely changed haha.
